Are Airport responsible for lost items?

Chief Dawid Stuurman International Airport (formerly Port Elizabeth Airport) is not legally responsible for personal belongings lost by passengers. However, the airport does assist in locating and returning lost items through its Lost and Found office. đ What the Airport Is Responsible For:Handling items found in airport premises (e.g., terminal, security, restrooms, waiting areas)
Storing found items for up to 90 days
Providing a contact point (phone/email) for inquiries
â What the Airport Is Not Responsible For:
Items lost onboard an aircraft (handled by the respective airline)
Items lost outside the airport (e.g., in taxis or public transport)
Valuable personal belongings such as electronics, wallets, or jewelry â unless they are found and turned in
